After the pick-up in Reykjavik, we will be stopping at the site of the first Icelandic parliament, Þingvellir, which was established here in 930 AD, making it one of the oldest ones in Europe. Apart from the history, you will be able to walk from the North-American to the European tectonic plate, through the Mid-Atlantic ridge, which is also located here.
Next, we are visiting the mother of all geysers, Geysir. Even though she is not active these days, her little brother, "Strokkur" will put on a show for you, erupting every 5-8 minutes.
Afterward, we will be arriving at Gullfoss, the golden waterfall. This powerful giant has up to 130 000 liters of water running down every second. If the weather conditions are ideal, you will be able to spot the majestic Langjökull glacier on the horizon.
Time for lunch! Over the centuries, Iceland learned to utilize the power of geothermal energy. This renewable source of energy was used to heat houses and these days this power is harnessed in order to grow vegetables and fruits at the local greenhouses. The Friðheimar Tomato Farm is a prime example of this, after a short tour through the premises, we will be able to enjoy the delicious tomato-based meals they are offering. Please note, that the lunch is not included in the tour price.
The day is still not over! There is no better way of ending this trip than with a relaxing swim in hot geothermal water. We will drive you to a local thermal pool, called "Gamla Laugin" (The Secret Lagoon). It was first opened in 1891 and it is still popular up to this day. Apart from being one of the oldest swimming pools in the country, it has a constant temperature of 38/40 °C, thanks to the high geothermal activity in the area.
